Poori Masala



This is a delicious side dish for pooris that I made it this Sunday and this can be used as a good combo for the masala dosa too. But sharing this with the poori is a great combo. This is a good and fantastic side dish for the breakfast with the poori at holiday times. Thus it is one of the important south Indian breakfast is been cooked during the festival seasons and family gettogether events. poori with masala is everyone's favourite dish and can be done is easily in less time.

Making of poori masala is easy and simple and not time-consuming working this is a great and delicious breakfast during the Sunday and event time. Pooris is everyone's favourite and very delicious to consume as a morning breakfast.

The masala is made with potatoes and it is mildly spicy and good aromatic with the garnishing ingredients like curry leaves, green chilli's, and turmeric powder for the masala garnishing

Prep time : 10 minutes

INGREDIENTS
  • Oil                            -  2 tsp
  • mustard seed            -  1/2 tsp
  • Cumin seed              -  1 tsp
  • Chana dal                -  1 tbsp
  • Green chilli              -  3 no's
  • Curry Leaves            -  few 
  • Onion                        -  2 medium size
  • Ginger-garlic            -  1 tsp
  • Potatoes                    -  3 medium size
  • Carrot                       -  1 medium size
  • Turmeric powder     -   1/2 tsp
  • Salt                           -  as per taste 
Instructions

  • In a pressure cooker, add  potatoes, carrot and add turmeric powder and salt.
  • Then, add the 2 cups of water and pressure cook them in the medium flame for about 5 whistles 
  • Let it cool down.
  • Add oil in the pan and place then in the medium flame
  • Add cumin, Chana dal, green chilli and curry leaves to it and fry them well
  • Add the onion which is sliced and saute them till translucent and then add the pinch of  asafoetida to it and stir them well
  • Then add ginger-garlic paste and saute them well until the raw smell leave
  • Add the pressure cooked potatoes to it 
  • Mix them well and add the required salt to it
  • Cover and Let it boil for 10 minutes in the low flames
  • Masala is ready to serve
  • Enjoy them with poori, Chapati and dosa as a side dish too

1. Pressure cook the potatoes, carrot




                                      
       2. In pan, add mustard, cumin and Chana dal to it 




3. Add green chilli and saute them well





4. Add curry leaves to it 






5. Add the sliced onion and saute them well





6. Saute it well until it is translucent 





7. Add ginger-garlic paste to it




8. Add the pressure cooked potatoes to it and mix well 





9. Add salt and cover cook them in low flame for about 10 minutes





10. Masala is ready to serve with the pooris






Serve hot! Enjoy the dish!
